In today’s world, it is more important than ever for teachers lesson plans and critical thinking that students create to think for themselves. One of my favorite hot-critical thinking lesson plans in the Four Corners debate. In this activity, critical thinking, students organize their views on such a controversial statement in one of four categories: strongly agree, rather agree, rather disagree or strongly oppose.
Here are the steps:
1st Post signs in the corners of the classroom every corner shows in four categories (strongly agree, tend to agree Tend to agree, not at all).
2nd Send a controversial statement of the class based on the contents of the device. For example, after completing a unit on World War II, a teacher can make the following statement: President Truman was justified by atomic bombs to end World War II.
3rd Giving students a few minutes to write their position and statements on a sheet of paper. This will prevent students from simply follow their friends in the next step.
4th Students then go through the curves that fit best their opinion.
